Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Better Giving Connector (the "Connector") at https://app.connect.better.giving, provided by Better Giving, Inc. ("we", "us"). By connecting the Connector you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. Who may use it

The Connector is for operators of a nonprofit's Better Giving site who are authorized to manage that site and to bind the organization to these Terms. You must be at least 18.

2. Your account

You are responsible for your account, for your AI assistant, and for all actions taken through your connection. Tell us promptly at support@better.giving if you suspect unauthorized use, and disconnect the Connector.

3. Acceptable use

You must not use the Connector to: break the law (including charitable-solicitation, privacy, anti-spam and consumer-protection laws); access a site you are not authorized to manage; process data you have no right to process; interfere with or probe the service's security; or send unlawful, deceptive or harmful content.

4. AI actions and output

The Connector carries out instructions sent by your AI assistant. AI output can be wrong or incomplete. You are responsible for reviewing and confirming actions before they take effect, especially those that publish content or change what donors see. The first time a campaign is published, you also say where the gifts go. We are not responsible for content generated by the provider of your AI assistant; that provider's terms govern that service. Anthropic is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Connector.

5. No money movement

The Connector does not process payments, move funds, or hold money. Donation entries created or edited through it are records only. The Connector does not provide tax advice or determine whether a gift is tax-deductible.

6. Your site and your data

You connect a Better Giving account by signing in at better.giving. Connections made earlier to another Better Giving site keep working until you disconnect them. The Better Giving connector and Better Giving Standalone are open source. You are responsible for the account you connect and for the data on it. You are the controller of your donors' and supporters' data and are responsible for having a lawful basis and giving any required notices. We process that data only to carry out your requests, as described in the Privacy Policy. Nonprofits that need a data processing agreement can request one at support@better.giving.

7. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue the Connector. We aim for reasonable notice of material changes. We may update these Terms by posting a new version; material changes take effect no sooner than 30 days after we post notice on this page, and continued use after that means you accept them.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Connector at any time by disconnecting it. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or to protect the service or others. On termination, stored connection data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimer

THE CONNECTOR IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOST DATA, DONATIONS OR PROFITS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE CONNECTOR IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

11. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your misuse of the Connector, your site, or data you process through it in breach of these Terms or the law.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and disputes go to the New York courts, except where local consumer law gives you other rights.

13. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement about the Connector. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. You may not assign these Terms without our consent.
